Depression : A state of being unhappy evident especially by sadness, sedentariness, trouble with thinking and attention, a major increase or decrease in appetite and time spent sleeping, feelings of dejection and hopelessness.(Gale Encyclopedia of Medicine,2008).

Mood disorder : Any of a group of psychiatric disorders, including depression and bipolar disorder, characterized by a pervasive disturbance of mood that is not caused by an organic abnormality. Also called affective disorder.(The American Heritage® Medical Dictionary. 2007)

Even though illness itself is the culprit of mood changed if you’re sick of course you will not feel happy. Emotional state often can make an illness worse. Because of being in a state of depression affects the nervous system making it harder for your system to heal itself. Often indicated by mood changes in the patient, because of real pain and the stress of the situation, Such as being cooped up in a medical facility; or the nature of the illness that can potentially be made worse by a preexisting mental disorder.

When I have a cold and or a flu I do not want to do anything or go anywhere, I just want to lie there and if I attempt to do something like get my homework done or finish the chores it becomes hard to accomplish. Just imagine that 200 times worse lying in the hospital. Not knowing waiting for some answers. That you may already know the answers too which will stress you out just as much as not knowing the answers. Without something to occupy the mind from current personal situations, someone to talk to or a game to play with someone or just drowning you in a good book or movie.

Do you get depressed when you are sick? So do you all have anything you do to make yourself less depressed when you are sick? Or do you get sick because you are sad or stressed out? Do you think your Pain gets worse if you are sad or is Sick or is it both?
